Have you checked your manual?

I'm not certain, but I'd suggest that Nikon's lens-mounted system uses a lens-mounted control, and if the lens doesn't have VR, then it won't be available.

This is similar to people using non-motorised lenses on D3xxx and D5xxx bodies and asking how to autofocus (you can't).

Nikon placed their anti-shake feature on the lens so look for it there. The switch is on the side of the barrel clearly labeled as VR. If it's not there then the lens simply has no VR feature.

If you look on the Nikon website, you will see that the lenses are what have the VR control, NOT the camera. Both Nikon and Canon utilize image stabilization via their special lenses. This allows the lens designers to custom build VR or SI lenses based upon the focal length of each lens. What this does is give the photographer about 4 stops of leeway when it comes to using slow shutter speeds, hand held. If you are shooting sports, VR is NOT necessary since you will be shooting at shutter speeds in excess of 1/500th second so the subject does not contain blur
