What scope for deer hunting?

I have narrowed it down to two scopes, a Nikon Prostaff 2-7x32 or a Leupold VX-1 2-7x33. I will be putting it on a 12 gauge slug gun. The leupold is like $50 bucks more, but should I spend the extra? Here are the links http://www.opticsplanet.com/nikon-riflescope-prostaff-2-7x32.html or http://www.opticsplanet.com/leupold-vx-i-2-7x33mm-shotgun-rifle-scope.html I can't decide between the two so thanks!

I like the Leupold scopes. I would go the same except that I would get a 40mm. Gathers more light for early Morning & late evening.

Check out the light gathering ability for both scopes. Choose the one with the better ability. It makes a world of difference in very early or late afternoon hunting to be able to see in low light conditions. And your best bet would be to go with the.40 instead of the.33 lens objective.

After a few bad incidents with Leupolds, I threw all mine in the trash and went with Tasco; never had a bit of trouble since. Besides,

Tasco is used by the US militaries and carry a lifetime warranty.

It's your choice.spend 50 or save 50.personally i prefer nikon to leupold.

Honestly, there's little difference between these two. I think the Leupold VX-1 line is generally superior to the Nikon Prostaff line, but they are close enough that it doesn't really matter.

Every scope has pros and cons and everybody has their favorite brand. I personally prefer Burris glass, its 2/3 to 1/2 the price of Leoupold and I think they are clearer but thats just me. Go to a good gun store that carries different brands and compare the ones you like. But as noted, get the biggest objective lense that is practical for your gun. The bigger the lense the more light transmission (as a general rule).
