He's right.

K-mount lenses allow Av and M metering (stopped down) with manual focus - something Nikon only include from the D7xxx up.

Ka-mount lenses allow all modes and manual focus.

M42 lenses (with adapter) allow Av and M modes too.

Kaf lenses allow full functionality.

Be careful, though, Ricoh's R-K lenses - which allowed programmed mode on certain of their models - WILL jam on the camera (you'll get them on, but they're a b*tch to get off) Ricoh's original K-mount lenses should be safe, and some third-party lenses have an oversized flange protecting the stop-down lever which can also cause problems. Both can be modified by a competent technician. All of them. All of them. All of them will be able to use your K-mount lenses without the need for any additional converter or adapter.
