What is THEE BEST Nikon DSLR Camera for making short films?

I'll take canon suggestions too, nothing too expensive anywhere from 100-800$.

There isn't any made by any body because digital cameras, in case you hadn't noticed, don't use film… So making films with a digital camera is impossible.

The Canon t3i or t4i… But these don't use film either.

Please buy a camcorder, and not a D-SLR. D-SLR's were made for taking PHOTO not video.

when it comes to dSLR type cameras, nobody has a smoother video shooter than Sony. Are they the best camera for everything? No, but for video use, in your price range they are, look at the Sony A57, A58 possible the A65 when there's a sale, or a used one.

You need a video camera, not a D-SLR. The Nikon D3100, D3200, D5100, D5200 all shoot video, but are limited to about 5 minutes in HD. Maybe 25 minutes other wise.
You have to worry about the sensor over heating.
