What is a great quality camera that takes pictures and videos?

I'm looking for a high quality camera that takes both pictures and videos of high quality. I would like it to be semi expensive so not super expensive but it can be up there. Is there a certain brand that's better too? Nikon? If you can please give me a link too.

Honestly I would never suggest a camera for under 300$ if you're going to be doing at least semi serious photos with it. I know it's a little more expensive but the Nikon D3100 is Amazing as far as quality for your dollar. It features 14.2 megapixel, 3.0" LCD monitor, and is also 1080p. It is a DSLR camera, and relatively affordable.It's better to wait and save a little to get a quality camera if you're serious about the pictures. As far as the video, it takes excellent video in my opinion, of course you would always get better video out of a dedicated video camcorder. Read some reviews and find something fitting to you. Any of the Canon Rebel models will do very nicely.
