Should I trade 7mm for a Non-Magnum Cartridge?

Should I trade 7mm mag for non-magnum cartridge?
last year i about a browning x bolt stainless 7mm rem mag with a nikon monarch 3-12x42.

I like to shoot my guns alot and being that i'm still young i can't ever shoot the 7mm as much as I would like because the ammo is fairly expensive. Origionally I I thought I might do an elk or caribou hunt within the next couple years but that plan never fell through. So right now all i hunt is whitetail. I also don't honestly enjoy shooting my rifle because of the recoil. I shoot fine with it but i would like to enjoy shooting with a rifle if i could.

i'm interested into long range shooting and i would like to get good out to 600 yards but i don't shoot enough to perfect that range yet.

My question is should I trade my 7mm mag for a non magnum cartridge? Can you give me some ideas, i was thinking 25-06, is that a good choice?

I will still probably end up going elk hunting in the future but if worst comes to worst i think i would just buy a different gun with bigger cartridge.

Would i be able to trade a 1 year old 7 mag for a non magnum new x bolt stainless straight up? Or would i have to give cash? And how much?
Should i do a private sell then use the cash to buy a new one?

also i plan on keeping my scope

I would take off the optic and sell it via private sale.

The price will depend on what the buyer is willing to spend, but expect to add some cash of your own to the budget if you want a new X-Bolt.

I would also recommend.308 if you enjoy target shooting.

You will take a big financial loss if you trade in your rifle.

If you want to shoot low cost then a 223 is the way to go, or, barring that, 308.

I see two real choices for you. Save up and get a second rifle, or save up and get into reloading your own ammo
