Pentax SLR K-7 stops recording randomly?

Everytime I go to record something, even though it says that there's ten minutes of recording time left on the card, it stop recording at just before two minutes. I can easily continue recording after it stops, it just means that I can't continuously record and since I make movies, I really need this fixed.

I don't think it's a problem with the card because I have two different cards (different types and sizes) and neither of them help. I've tried looking online but everything I've found is for Canon.

It is probably not stopping so randomly

You see once you place your camera in the live view mode to shoot video, the sensor starts heating up although you have not started shooting video.

Once the sensor reaches a certain temperature, the camera will shut off to protect the sensor

In the future, do all your composing and focusing using the cameras viewfinder. Once you are ready to start shooting the scene, then switch to live view and start recording your video takes.

If you shoot short takes of under 3 minutes for each scene, you will find that your sensor will not overheat causing intermittent secession of video recording.

If you follow your script instead of trying to make video using a "Stream of Consciousnesses" mode, letting the video run and run while you aim the camera at various subjects, you will 1) reduce the number of times that camera shuts off and 2) find it easier to later edit your video in to something interesting.

NOTE: Writing scripts and shooting video is NOT camera specific. It does not matter if you are using a Pentax, Canon, ARRI, Nikon, Sony, Panasonic or any other camera capable of shoot video. The techniques are all the same.

Thanks, yeah I think I'll just have to keep the recording time short, but hopefully that shouldn't be a problem.
