I'm grtting this camera. I would say I'm a pretty good beginner photographer. I've done others senior pictures & couples photos. So what I'm trying to say is do you think this is a good candidate to take my senior pics with? Quality wise?

Quality wise it's great, lens is sharp. But it does get annoying when you are looking to change some simple settings, you have to open the menu scroll through random settings and get to where you want to be, a lot of menu digging could cause your moment to disappear. Its also very expensive to buy new lens.

But other than that, its great. It will definitely get the job done. Portraits come out good as well, it has a built in flash as well, it shoots RAW allowing you to make effective and accurate post editing.

If you want to change your mind, I would recommend either an olyumpus, panasonic or canon. These cameras are relatively cheaper, and have a slightly bigger sensor.

Here they are on B&H:

In my opinion any EVIL camera is terrible when compared to even the lowest level dslr.

Some reasons? These cameras are over glorified and way over priced point and shoot cameras that don't even have a view finder - only a screen. So shooting with an EVIL camera is just like a tiny point and shoot. Probably good for snapping shots at parties but I can't believe these will ever be good for serious photography.

As I say, just an opinion.

Yea, especially if you can afford the 32mm f/1.2, which is equivalent to an 85mm portrait lens, it will work well enough.

However, portraiture is more than the camera, it is also about lighting. Unfortunately, this is where the Nikon 1 system lacks as there's no provision to remotely control flashes.
