Nikon N8008 screen is frozen and not doing anything?

Added (1). Yesterday the camera was working fine, but suddenly after taking a roll of film it froze up and refused to rewind the film, or do anyhing else. I had to carefully manually remove the film and after that I put in another roll. It still did the same thing. So I bought new batteries and still, it won't work.
Please don't suggest that I get a new camera; this camera isn't mine, I borrowed it.

Sounds like it jammed. If careful scrutiny of its guts shows nothing, consider taking it to a repair shop so that you can return the camera in the same shape that you got it.

Take off batteries, cool down for about 5 minutes then try again.

At this time, you will need to access what works and what doesn't.

Does it seem to power on? Anything on top LCD display? If not, you have electrical problem.
Look at the top side of your camera and locate two buttons with red film symbol on it. Press both at the same time and hold it for 5 seconds. Does the rewind start? If not, then you have either electrical or mechanical problem.
When you hit the shutter button, does your lens try to auto-focus? Anything happen at all? Still a sign of electrical problem.
Take your lens off. Is the mirror up or down? If up, it's stuck. DON'T FORCE IT! It shows mechanical problem.
Without any film in it, open the back. Is the shutter open or closed? If open, your shutter is stuck. DON'T TOUCH THE SHUTTER.
Look into the view finder. Do you see anything lit at all? If not, electrical problem.
I'm going to assume you know where your power switch is, and it's on. (double check, please)

By the time you reach here, you can basically assume your camera body is dead. Electrical or mechanical, you won't be able to fix this yourself. This camera is not worth much at all. My suggestion to you is to come clean to the owner of the camera and ask what he/she wants you to do.

If you need to replace it, there's www.keh.com that is a reputable used camera dealer.
