Nikon d800 focusing issues?

Hi
i have nikon d800 & nikon 24-70 (2.8) lense.
my problem is liveview focus photos r very good focus.
but viewfinder focus photos r sometimes good focus
sometimes bad focus. Have any settings?
or AF fine tuning wich range?

As far as the camera is concerned there's absolutely no difference between live view and the view finder.
All that's happening is the display to you - that's it so it's not the camera… It's probably you.

Are you using all your focus points? If so get off that and to a single focus point, dead center. Your owner's manual will tell you how. On multi-point you're allowing the camera to make the decisions… That's not a good idea.

Unless you are shooting video, you need to use the cameras viewfinder to compose and control your image exposures

Look on page 39

If you are shooting video, you need to consider using a loupe like this one and manually focusing each take of your scenes.

There's a firmware update that fixes some issues on the D800. Have you installed the latest firmware for both camera and lenses?

The dirty little secret of DSLR's is that the mirror reflex viewfinder focusing that is supposed to perfectly duplicate the focus that will occur on the sensor is sometimes not so perfect. Nikon seems to have had more problems with this than they want to admit to.
