Plugged in?

The Nikon D3200 (and other digital SLR cameras) all use rechargeable batteries and come with a battery charger. Once you have charged the battery, you can get up to 540 on a single charge.

If you have the mistake belief that you can charge your cameras battery using a USB port, you have not read your user manual or had any experience using a digital SLR. You can't charge a battery while it is inside the camera for many reasons, but first of all, batteries get hot and thus need to be charged using the charger and exposed to fresh air

I think the proper way of charging your camera's battery is to take it out of the camera and inserting it to the charger which plugs into the wall socket. You don't plug the camera in.

The only way to plug in your D3200 is with an EP-5A power connector and an EH-5b AC adapter. See page 176 of your manual. If you are using them, and it does not turn on, contact Nikon.

If you have plugged the camera to your computer with the USB cord, it won't work. That is for data transfer only.
