Which one is better? Nikkor 18-105mm VR or 70-300mm VR?

This is my second lens. Have a 50mm prime
budget is not a problem.

It depends on what you want to shoot. For me, the 18-105 as I use the wide angle more than the telephoto. As for build and quality, they are both consumer level zoom lenses. Neither will be as sharp as your 50mm prime, but for most general purpose shooting they will be fine. I have the 18-135 and like it, it is the walk-around lens on my D80, and I use the 18-200VR on the D300.

Picture quality depends mostly on your ability but optically, the shorter zoom the better so it's the 70-300mm on #1.

Built quality should be the same since both are Nikkors so #2 is mute.

If you hate changing lenses then that's what the 18-105mm is for. Consider getting the 18-300mm to match the pulling power of the 70-300mm and maintain the 18mm at the other end.
