Nikon D5200 lense problem?

I just recently bought a 55-200mm Nikkor lense from B and H Photo and Video. And it won't work. I'm and amateur, an aspiring photographer, as in I'm 17 years old and need help!
I literally got my lense in the mail yesterday. It took about 15-20 pictures, then stopped working. Completely. It won't even attempt to focus. Its not making a squeaking sound, just like a clock sound (like its focusing but it doesn't) when I push the button halfway down. The camera and my kit lense will work fine. But this one won't do a thing. I've tried blowing and trying to get dirt out, and putting it in AF/AF-E lock. Nothing. And I have a wedding in two days and don't have the money or time to get a new one! Someone please help!

You are going to have to call B&H Photo and have them replace the lens if you have only had is such a short time.

Nikon provides a one year warranty, so if anyone has a lens fail due to a manufacturing issue, they will repair it for them.

Why would you think a new lens has dirt in it?

You are using entry level lenses and probably camera to shoot weddings (you need to be 18 years or older to enter into contracts so that may be you overriding problem). Even with every thing working just right, you really do not have the best tools, tools that working pros use on a day to day basis

Call B&H Photo and get the ball rolling.
