Question my brother wants a new lens I've been hearing him talk about 18-140 one but will that lens fit on his nikon 3000? If not what is the best lens I can get him for that camera for his birthday?

The 18-140mm is AF-S which means all functions will work with his D3000. The lens is sharp, but like all wide zoom range lenses, it will have noticeable distortion if shooting buildings. The distortion is correctable in Photoshop and Lightroom.

Any new Nikkor lens will be an AF-S lens. That means that it will work just fine on any of the Nikon entry level cameras including the D3000

Here is a list of all the lenses made by Nikon. Any of the ones that are AF-S lenses will work just fine with your brothers D3000

Ken Rockwell gave it high marks for sharpness. It does seem to have more distortion than most zooms.
