Is there a problem with my nikkor lens?

I just bought a new Nikkor 35mm f.18 lens. Is the focus ring supposed to turn forever, or it supposed to stop? I can keep turning mine with no stop to it.

Its a safety to prevent you from damaging the stops in the lens. If you turn it slowly you will feel it stop but if you continue to turn it, it will just keep going. My 50mm 1.8g, 35mm 1.8g and my 85mm 3.5g DX VR Macro all to it. Any Nikon lens with manual over ride has this feature.
