DX Format Lens Upgrade?

All of the following focal lengths are for use on an APS-C size sensor (1.5x crop)

I currently have the 18-55mm VR kit lens and the 35mm f/1.8 prime.

I can't decide whether I would like to add a wide-angle or a telephoto lens. I'm a beginner, and I haven't ever used wide angle before. From what I can tell, most people tend to love them or hate them. So far, I'm most interested in urban/street, landscape, and just general travel photography. What would you recommend?

My main options are:
Nikkor 18-200mm VR (if I got this I would sell the kit lens)
Nikkor 70-300mm VR
Nikkor 10-24mm f/4 (?)
Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8
Tokina 12-24mm f/4

You already have a wide angle lens. The 18mm range of your kit lens is as worthwhile to you now as any of the other wide angle lenses. Get either the 18-200 or 70-300, depending on how important long zoom is to you.

In my opinion your best choice would be the AF-S 17-55mm f2.8 which is a constant aperture zoom and will be a substantial upgrade to replace your slow variable aperture 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 zoom. I simply can't justify replacing a slow lens with a slow lens such as the 18-200mm or 70-300mm especially since you express an interest in urban/street and landscape photography. The 17-55mm will suffice for travel photography as well and the f2.8 constant aperture will be useful indoors.
