Is there a big difference between these lenses?

I'm pretty sure the answer is YES but i wanted some input from others first

i shoot a lot of landscape scenes and i have been wanting a nice ultra wide for some time

i'm looking into the Nikon 10 to 24 (link below)

but i'm wondering, my widest angle lens i have now is the 18 to 105 my D7100 came with

is there that big of a difference between 10mm and 18mm and would this lens be a far better option for landscape shots?

There's a big difference.

Whether that difference matters is up to each individual photographers wants and needs and the scene they're photographing.

Here's a link where you can compare focal lengths

Here's a screen shot I took from the link above, showing what the difference between 10mm and 18mm looks like. Is there a big difference between these lenses - 1

The wider the focal length is, the more noticeable a small 8mm increment is. But if you compared 300mm to 308mm, you probably wouldn't notice the difference. But for a wide angle lens, the difference can be huge because going from 18mm to 10mm is a difference of almost 45%.

Better is subjective. Personally, I feel too many photographers get in the mode that landscape images need to be wide. Often I see very wide images, with so much to look at. So much information. That it's hard to figure out sometimes what the main focal point of the image was supposed to be. These kinds of images have a lot of things going on in the photo and can look like a mess at times (from what I've seen over the years, many times).

Many great landscape images have been made using telephoto lenses where the photographer decided to make an image of the most important, most interesting part of the scene.

It really just depends on what you like, and what you want to say with the photograph.

I suggest that your 18mm lens is good enough.
I feel a 10mm would tend to distort things a little. Perhaps!
