Is the Nikon SB-80-DX Fully Compatible with the D7100?

Is the Nikon SB-80-DX Fully Compatible with the D7100?

Yes except that it does not support the Wireless Flash Control Wireless Commander Mode your D7100 has.
If you can find a good used SB-700, you will have full functionality with your camera.
The SB-80-DX will shoot in the TTL mode, so all is not lost

According to Ken Rockwell, it will lack the TTL metering function.

Thus, not fully compatible. Nikon's TTL-BL function works quite well.

The SB-80DX was the top of the line Nikon D-TTL flash, but Nikon switched the flash system to I-TTL with the D70. Your camera has I-TTL. The flash will partially work with your camera, but not fully like an SB-800.

Nikon D7100
Pros:
- I'm coming from a D70s, so I like most everything about this camera.
- All the extra options. I like options. The D7100 is an improved version of my old camera, plus video, plus Wi-Fi (optional add-on), plus dual memory cards, etc etc.
