Is SONY DSC xH200v camera better than similar models of NIkon, panasonic, Canon etc?

The sony is ok i checked out footage and a review on the camera. It is similar in price to the canon 550d
and feel you would appreciate it more: check out ebay second hand is ok

30 x optical zoom doesn't really mean anything especially when you can buy macro lenses or zoom lenses to suit the 550d.

Sony, Nikon, and Canon make quality cameras. Some people like Panasonic cameras.
