I'm going to Hedley next week and I have floor tickets. Is it safe to bring my new Nikon camera? Will it get damaged/confiscated?

Is it a small pocket camera? If so it probably won't get taken. That's usually reserved for dslr cameras which most venues consider professional cameras. Copyright laws.

Damaged? Well if it gets knocked out of your hand and you're wearing a neck strap it most likely won't get damaged that way… But be sure you're wearing a strap. If you don't have one and don't want to buy one then leave the camera at home.

You could also use a phone but there's lots of danger of you dropping it.

I would not take a DSLR to any concert for two reasons:

1: They most likely won't let you in with it

2: If a bunch of people are there and there's a lot of jumping and screaming it might get knocked out of your hands or stolen.

A small pocket P&S would do in most cased anyway.

You can't take a DSLR to a concert.
If your Nikon is a small compact then you will be able to use it.
As to whether it gets stolen or lost, well, I guess that's entirely up to you! If you take care of it, you'll be OK. If you leave it lying around then obviously it will get stolen.
If you keep it secure in the pocket, then it won't get damaged.
