Internally zooming/focusing full frame Nikon lenses?

I'm looking for a general good walkaround full frame Nikon F mount lens which is weather sealed and focuses/zooms internally. I was originally looking at the 24-70 2.8, but it externally zooms. I'm aware of the Sigma 24-35mm f2 which zooms and focuses internally, but isn't weather sealed.

I have been using a Nikkor 24-70 mm f/2.8 lens for over ten years and it performs well when I'm shooting sports and events and do NOT find the fact that it lengthens when I use the zoom to reach out at 70 mm. The focus is internal, so half your problem is solved.

What exactly is your issue with lenses that do not have in internal zooming feature.

If I needed to buy a 24-70 mm f/2.8 lens today, I would get the new f/2.8E version with the electromagntic aperture.
