Nikon SLR Cameras

I would like a camera for Christmas. I don't know what kind I should get?

I'm 14 years old. I have always loved taking pictures, but I do it with my phone. I still don't know exactly what I want for Christmas, but I know I want a camera with a price range of about 200-400 dollars. A few people I asked recommended Canon, and others recommended Nikon. Any suggestions?

The camera for you is the Fujifilm S4800. Not only does it have 30x optical zoom, but it has aperture and shutter priority modes. These modes will allow you to grow in photography skills when you are ready. It shoots HD video. And it does have a viewfinder. And you can probably get it for around $150. Be sure to invest in a photography course so that you can grow as a photographer.

Could you add a few details about what you want the camera to do in terms of lifestyle and where your phone camera is letting you down? That way we can help you work out if it's a compact, bridge camera, or basic DSLR you need.

Canon and Nikon are the market leaders in DSLR cameras and are both as good as each other. So you should look at all their various models and then decide which one feels right for you.

These listed on this link are all worth considering. Which one is for you? That all depends on what you want to do with it, and your personal preferences for size, weight, and feature set. Check these out: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/...rtclk=sort

Canon and Nikon make adequate DSLRs, but they're outside your price-range. Sony and Pentax can match or better them, but only intelligent people have heard of them.

If you're looking at bridge cameras, go for Fujifilm, the SL 300 (rechargeable battery) or S4800 (AAs) - you'd have to be Really stupid to buy an L-series Nikon, and Canon's SX- series don't generally have viewfinders.
