Hunting Scope for around $150?

I use a single shot 44 magnum. Currently using the Handi Rifle but may get a Scout. I do a lot of Fieldwood line hunting and my gun is good to around 125 yards. I currently have an old, weird brand 3-9x32 on it but would like to get to about 40mm or so. Any suggestions? Looking into the Bushnell Banner and Nikon Prostaff. Do you have any input on those? Don't like the BDC style cross-hairs but I can put up with anything really.

Go with the bushnell banner

Get a Nikon with the Nikoplex crosshairs. Nikon makes a much better product than Bushnell.

And if you're only shooting out to 125 yards, do you really need a 3-9x scope? You could do the same thing with a 2-7x, or even a fixed 4x. Of course, if the one you're using is doing the job, is it even necessary to replace it?

You might be better off to just save up another $300 or so, and buy a decent revolver to carry with you as well. You can even get a.44 Magnum revolver for around $500 new, if you look for a Taurus Tracker.

Redfield Revolution or Leupold Rifleman product lines would fit your needs.

I'd stay with 32/33mm objective though, You'll have to mount a 40mm too high on the handirifle.

Nikon prostaff or busnell trophy series(one step above the banner) get it in either 4x or 2x7. Both these scopes can be had for under 150

Bushnell makes a sub-par product and doesn't stand by what little warranty they offer. Nikon on the other hand will back their warranty which in most scopes is a lifetime warranty, Nikon products will also hold zero while Bushnell may or may not.

Vortex and Nikon are where I would look.

Bushnell scope would be my pick.Co puts out pretty good optics and internal parts. Would not want a BDC for a 44 mag.
You mention a scout rifle and scout will have a forward mounted scope, So long eye relief scope is needed. New problem and cost. The long eye scopes cost a lot more than standard, and lower power in most cases. Bushnell offers a Long eye relief scope and its pretty good. Have mounted some of these on hand guns.
