How to remove a stuck battery for my Nikon D 60?

Yes I've read the manual and yes the battery was inserted correctly. I open the battery compartment turned it upside down and tapped gently expecting it to slide out but it seems to be a very tight fit. Does anyone have any suggestions?

It could be a generic battery. They can over heat and swell up. Making it impossible to remove.
Did you put the battery in?
This is an old camera, if the battery was in a long period of time, even a Nikon battery can leak.
Only s pro can remove it, and it may not be cost effective. You can try sticking a piece of packing tape of the back of the battery and see if that's enough to pull the battery out. In storage over a year huh? Sigh… If it has been said here once, it has a hundred times. REMOVE BATTERIES from any device not used regularly. I have no doubt it also says that in the manual. You seemed to have missed that part. The battery has leaked and the corrosion has sort of "welded" it to the contacts inside the camera. You might try getting some "super glue" and glueing something strong to the bottom of the battery. Let it set up good and strong, and then see if you can pull the battery out. Don't worry about ruining the battery, it is already ruined. If you do get the battery out, the contacts up inside the camera will need to be cleaned. Best to let a repair service do that. If you are lucky, cleaning the battery corrosion from the contacts will solve the problem, after installing a new battery of course. Problem solved. I managed to get it loose with a small flat head screwdriver. No damage to the camera and the battery wasn't corroded. But it was swelled up enough that if I put it back in I'll have the same issue again. Plus it didn't want to charge either. So eBay here I come.
