How to pronounce Nikon?

In the US, the "i" is pronounced like eye.
I've heard Brits pronounce it with a short "i" as in Nick-on.
I've also heard others pronounce it Nee-con.
I personally have always pronounced it with a long "i". Because I'm in the US I guess.
Who's right? What is the actual pronunciation.

I pronounce it like it is spelled nikon

In the ads over here in Britain they say it like nick-on (ie a short "i" sound)
But there are a lot of words pronounced differently over here
*Cough* aluminium *Cough*

Being a Brit I pronounce it Nick-on, but if you want the 'true' pronunciation then I guess you need to ask a Japanese person as it is a Japanese word!

NiKon
or "Knee-Con"

The western pronunciation is "i" as in "eye" and "o" as in "bond"…
In Japan, it is nee-kohn with "i" as in "ravine" and "o" as in "tone"
ニコン in katakana.

I pronounce it like the "eye". Another way you can look at it is pronounced like
NYYYYKON. So the nykon would be how i pronounce it

The actual pronunciation is Nee Kon. It is from NIppoN KOgaku. Nippon (Nee Pon) is Japan in Japanese.

People working at Nikon UK call it Nick-on, so I guess that comes from the Japanese.

I never mention either Nikon or Canon, I just call them, 'The idiots' two.'
Pros apart, there are far too many people walking around with either who'd have to stop to chew gum.
