You don't use "settings"
You twiddle the zoom ring on the lens until you get the image you want.

I do not understand what you mean, "go into my settings"?

Your camera is a fully adjustable camera with controls for both your shutter speed and lens aperture. You use the lightmeter in the viewfinder to make assure that you are using the right combination of those two adjustments for good exposures.

Have you opened your user manual?

Have you ever taken a class in photography so you have at least the basics of photography to use as a starting point?

Just buying a great camera like the D5200 with 18-55 mm lens will NOT automatically assure that you will be able to produce amazing images.

Here is what you have to do.

* learn how to balance the cameras ISO, shutter speed and lens aperture Link below
* learn how to compose compelling images using the standard rules used by artists for centuries. Second link below

You have a fine camera which is fully capable of producing brilliant images, but you have to be willing to spend the time learning how to use it and that can take years of dedicated work on your part

To zoom the lens rotate the zoom ring on the lens barrel itself.

It only zooms from 18mm focal length (wide aangle) to 55mm focal length ( standard).

If you look on the end of your arm you will find an incredible tool called a hand.
Wrap it around the lens zoom ring and twist.
You have a dslr. It doesn't have digital zoom. 18-55 is all you have until you get a longer lens

OH… MY… GOOD… LORD.

Please just sell that camera and get a point and shoot for $80 off the rack at Walmart.

Perhaps this is just a troll question. Sure hope so, or you definitely qualify for the "IOTD" question, i.e. "Idiot Of The Day".

No… Seriously, I don't believe this can be a real question…
