How strong are Nikon DSLR camera straps?

Ever have one break? I have my D7100 dangling from my neck on my bike when i'm out on a ride looking for shots

my biggest fear is the those little strap eyelets breaking

i have the strap on the right way (the Nikon way lol)

but just wondering if anyone has ever had a strap break (from the camera body that is)

I imagine that the Nikon straps are exactly like my Canon straps, and I really don't think any of them would ever break.

However, I once nearly dropped a camera because the end of the strap had managed to gradually work its way out of the slot and let go.

You know how you put the skinny bit of the strap through the slot in the camera, then back through the little plastic sleeve? That is what was too loose, and I ended up putting a couple of stitches through the ends so it wouldn't happen again.

I would not use one when I go rock climbing as a piece of protection, but I would not be concerned about it coming loose.

Just, double check that the strap is actually double backed through the buckles on both sides.

I've never had a strap break nor heard of anyone who did.

I have never had a problem with my strap and normally have a lot more than just the camera weight on it with a large lens a battery pack and remote control sensor hanging off the camera the strap has to handle 2 to 3 times the weight of a normal Nikon DSLR.
