How many photos can 2gb hold?

I have a nikon 1 j1 and i have a 2gb memory card, how many photos will that take. And or do i need a bigger one.

That all depends on the size of the photos. If you run the camera at full resolution the files will be larder than at a lesser resolution. For most purposes you should set it for one of the lower resolutions.

You haven't read your Reference Manual, have you? Because the answer to your question can be found there… Pages 169-170. The figures in the chart are based on using a 16GB card, so you would need to divide by 4 to see how many 2GB will allow.

As you can see, 2GB is not very much capacity, particularly if your intend on recording Full HD movies.
