How about connecting a nikon d3100 to an laptop with the help of easy cap?

Hello… I have to connect my Nikon d3100 to my laptop to get a live view for my new project. But the thing is d3xxx cameras can't be tethered. So i have plans of connecting my camera to a laptop with the help of easycap. Do anyone knows about this connection? Does this helps to get live view clearly?

You may have the wrong Nikon for your project
Here is a list of the ones you can tether to a laptop running Adobe Lightroom 3.5 and 4
Nikon

D3s
D3x *
D4
D90 *
D300
D300s
D700
D800
D800E
D5000 *
D7000
* Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Mac OS X 10.6 are not officially supported for the D3x, D90, and D5000, but they can still work.
Here is a third party tethering software link

This site says their tethering software will work with your D3100 if you are running in Win7
