Wireless Flash Trigger for Nikon D40x - SB-700?

The SB700 works as a remote commander/trigger when put atop the camera, and it will trigger other flashes wirelessly. The SB-910 has the same feature.

And the SU-800 is a remote trigger only - without the flash part. It is less expensive than the SB700 if you don't need an on-camera flash, but you want the your other flashes to trigger wirelessly.

Or you could update your camera to a D90 or D7000, which has this function built-in (the entry level cameras D3xxx and D5xxx do not have this feature).

I can recommend RF602's (or the new RF603 versions). Cheaper than Pocket Wizards, no TTL flash control, purely manual stuff. RF602's cost around £20.

I use them a LOT with a Nikon D300 plus SB800/SB600's and various third party manual flashes too. Never had a problem with reliability or range.
