Will my Nikon 50mm 1:1.8 lens from my old film SLR work on my Nikon D3200 DSLR?
I'm fairly new to photography, being that I just got a Nikon D3200 for Christmas.
My parents just found their old SLR camera from back in the day, a Nikon N5005. On this N5005 is a 50mm 1:1.8 lens on it. It says Nikon AF Nikkor & Made in Japan. It also has a thing that says Tiffen on it, but I think it is a UV filter.
I'm scared to mount this lens onto my D3200, being that it is a new camera and would not want to break it through my stupidity.
Can I use this lens on my D3200?
Would I need to buy an adapter ring?

The AF 50 mm f/1.8 lens will fit directly on your new D3200, but you will have to manually focus the lens using the electronic rangefinder in the cameras viewfinder
Your D3200 can only auto-focus if you use Nikkor AF-S lenses

Tiffen is a brand of filter and it will have the type it is printed on the filter ring. If it says UV then its a UV filter.
