If you are referring to the AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR, no it is designed for your camera.

However, there are two kinds of vignetting. One kind, the most severe, is when you attempt to use a DX lens on a FX camera (however, most Nikon FX cameras have a DX mode to prevent this). This vignetting occurs because the diameter of the lens (since it is designed for DX) is too small for the FX sensor.

The second kind of vignetting; also called "falloff" occurs with most lenses, and is often hard to tell. It is the result of imperfect lens manufacturing and design, and is usually not very noticeable.

If you look at lens reviews at http://www.kenrockwell.com/...kwell.com/ or others, you will see that he shows the falloff for most lenses, and becomes progressively worse as you open the aperture.
