Which 2 lenses should I bring?

I'm traveling to Strasburg tomorrow and I'm not sure which lenses to bring. I haven't traveled much outside the country with my camera yet. I have a Nikon D3200 camera and a Nikon DX 35MM 1.8, Nikon DX VR 18-55 45-5.6 and a Sigma 70-300mm 4-5.6.

Another vote for the two shorter lenses. Depending on where you're going and what you're going to do, possible uses for the tele are very limited.

Leave the telephoto, you can usually walk closer to things in a city. The 35mm f1.8 will be nice for details and people shots. You may even be able to achive differential focusing with nice bokeh. Tip: Leave the 35mm lens on the camera and only use the kit lens if you really have to like for big architecture or interiors.

Agree. Take the 18-55mm and the 35mm because you're mostly going to using wide angle when traveling. The 35mm will allow you to take indoor shots without flash.

The lens you are missing is a wide angle zoom like the 10-24 mm. That lens with the 18-55 mm would be a good combination for shooting Strasburg.

I usually carry a minimum of four lenses when I travel along with my notebook computer so I can make backups of my images during the trips as well as keep up with my email accounts

I'll take the 35mm and the 18-55. You will not have any use for the long lens, as you will mostly take landscape pictures, and you will probably never find a subject that needs 70mm or longer.

Personally, I'd survive with just the 18-55mm as it's more useful for tourist shots especially at the 18mm end for taking as much of the scenery as possible. What extra lens to bring depends on your type of shooting. If you prefer low-light (indoors without the flash) then bring the 35mm f/1.8. If you are into capturing details of objects beyond your reach or subjects far, far away from you, then it's the 70-300mm.
