I have limited budget and i cut my options to just these three cameras. Nikon D3200 vs Nikon D5100 vs canon eos 550d. I want camera with good features and good image quality and with fair video options.

When Nikons work well, they work very well. However, I recently bought and returned two D7000's because of the autofocus problem. The D5100 is not notorious for that, so it might be a good choice. However, since Nikon's quality is going to hell in a handbasket, if I were starting fresh I'd start with Canon.

Best is Nikon D3200 for you,
Take a look at comparison - http://thenewcamera.com/nikon-d3200-vs-nikon-d5100/

Canon 550D is bit outdated. I strongly recommend you Nikon D3200.

If you could maybe updating the EOS 550D to the 600/650D that may be a good choice… I think the Nikon D5100 isn't the right choice, its not to great of a camera from what I've heard… Nikon D3200 on the other hand is going to turn out great pictures because of the 24.2 mega pixels… I promise you either the Canon 600D (The T3i) or the Nikon D3200 are going to make you happy and start you off well.

The Pentax K-r costs about the same as the Nikon D5100, and you don't have to worry about lens compatibility.

Get a D3200. SLowly start to buy better lenses than the kit lens and when you are much more advanced, you can think about a new camera which by that time will be the latest technology. The D3200 is a great camera.
