What kind of lens are tamron 17-55mm.does it fit nikon d3100?
Someone suggested me tamron 17-55mm Vc. What kind of lens are they? Does it fit my camera nikon d3100.anyone knows about them?
It's a third-party replacement for the Nikon's own 18-55mm, supposedly a better performer.
It will fit a D3100 if you buy the motorised version in Nikon mount, but it probably won't be worth the effort.
If you want to spend money on a new lens, but a second one like the 55-200 mm. Then you will have more flexabilty.
"Someone" is always ready to spend your money. Do they have the lens so they can show you how much "better" it is than your existing 18-55 mm?
To be exact, it's a Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 VC. I have the non-VC version, without the internal autofocus motor. That works on my mid-to-upper level Nikons, but your D3100 will need one with the motor built-in.
It's a pretty sharp lens, and will work very well in low light. But it's not constructed like the classic Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8 that I replaced my Tamron with, nor does it cost nearly as much.
Bottomline, sharp lens, but moderate build quality.
Mmm it is a Tamron 17-50mm F2, 8 Di II XF blah bah blah.
Yeah tamron makes one for nikon cameras. And it is a very nice lens, sharp, good glass, good coatings and not to big or heavy. It isn't weatherproofed so usage during terantial rains will not be advicable.
It is in short your first really good lens, and at a good price. See the F2.8 Zoom bug will hit you. You'll notice quicker focusing, the ability to make backgrounds nice soft out of focus. This is a third brand lens replacement so to say and it doesn't has the best build quality of the world. BUT it has great glass. And that is what matters.
It will replace your 18-55mm F3, 5-5, 6
Yes Nikkor has its own 17-55mm but that one is allot more expensive. And yes better but still allot more expensive.
So that is why many people buy the Tamron SP 17-50mm Di II XF ASP. Blah blah blah because it is a really good lens at a very nice price.
You'll find that you pictures you shoot with them, on technical level, are much nicer then the kitlens. Also you'll notice how lovely it is to be able to trust your lens to stay on a certain aperture.
Hey I use one on mine [not a nikon] and it is a very nice lens to have on it. I mean you want that close to 28mm effective to take in the wider view. Why not do it with a better lens then the kit lens.
