What does manual exposure in video mode mean?

Currently, I own a Nikon D3200 which allows me to take videos only in Live Mode. That is, I can't use the 9 AF points thru the viewfinder while taking videos. It makes the focus changes pretty slow.

I've just read the online review of Canon 60D. It says this camera has "EOS HD video mode with manual exposure control". Does it mean I can use 9 AF points thru viewfinder and in Live Mode?

I wonder sometimes how we ever managed to photograph or film anything without autofocus?

It must have been really difficult…

Why don't you visit 'You Tube' and watch some reviews on the '60D' and find out for yourself… It's fun sometimes to actually use your brain to research and learn about new things… You just won't get very far in life asking other people for the answer to everything that you don't understand.

Guess what, the 60D uses live view mode to shoot videos (the optical viewfinder is rendered useless because the mirror is in the up position). The 9-point AF mode isn't available in live view mode. Live view uses a different focusing technique called contrast.

Manual exposure mode means you can set the shutter speed, ISO, and aperture manually. For focus, I like to use auto focus before the shot, then use manual focus during the shoot if you need to. Using continuous-focus during a video shoot is annoying since the camera will focus when it feels like it needs to which causes annoying focus pump.

Your D3200 has manual exposure in video mode. See page 91 in your manual.

The dSLR was never meant to do video.

Exposure control involves aperture size, shutter speed and ISO settings to make the picture visibly appealing. What you are wanting is autofocus.
