Upgrading from 35mm film to DSLR?

Junior

I've been shooting 35mm since about june and i think i'm ready to upgrade to dslr in time for christmas. I've been looking at several different cameras from beginner cameras such as the Nikon D5000, to mid-Level's such as the Nikon D200. What differences are there regarding exposure settings, menu navigation, etc. Thank you so much! And is the D200 full frame?

Added (1). D200's go really cheap now, too.

D200s are cheap because they are about five years out of date, It has a small file size and is not full frame. If you want to buy a used dslr, look at a D90 or D300.

I don't know what your budget is, but (assuming you've already got some Nikon lenses), I'd look at:

- Nikon's D3100 (I have one, nice little camera, not full frame, they for for about $350 used)
- D5100
- D700 (I have one of these also, GREAT camera, full frame, they go for about $1400-1800 used)

I would definitely pass on the D200.It was a good camera when it came out, but that was a long time ago, digitally speaking. The D3100 and D5100 do video, the D700 does not. There are other difference between them as well, you can do a Google search like "Nikon D3100 vs. D5100", for example, to find comparisons between them. All the basics (manual and automatic settings) are available on all these, and most of Nikon's other DSLRs. The menu navigation is also similar, if you're used to one Nikon digital camera, it's very easy to pick up another model and find almost everything you need very quickly.
