Taking a DSLR To A Concert?

I'm going to One Direction next week and was wondering if they allow you to take DSLR's into the concert (I have a Nikon D3200) people say that you're not aloud to take professional cameras into the event but I don't think it particularly a 'professional camera' as I'll only have my kit lens on it.

They don't allow cameras. You'll only get it stolen anyway. I wouldn't even take a phone.

It depends upon concert organizers actually! If it is not allowed to carry a DSLR then it must be mentioned in the ticket or you might ask the ticket staffs about this. I went to a Behemoth's show few months ago and DSLR cams were not allowed. Organizers didn't allow specifically DSLR cameras, no matter its pro or entry level. So i guess its wise not to go with a DSLR! Cause I guess most of the concert organizers wouldn't allow!

Another thing to add: modern DSLRs (which nearly all take video) are equipped with something called a "TMF". This stands for "Terrible Music Filter", and when it recognises bad music, it automatically stops shooting or recording. One Direction are absolutely guaranteed to trip it.

Most concert venues won't allow Digital SLRs because of copyright concerns but can't stop point & shoot; they also tolerate P&S because they don't think such images have the quality to cause copyright concerns.

Another reason (from the artistes' view) is that when facing a dark auditorium FROM the stage the flash from cameras is very off-putting and is considered more than just a nuisance. I have heard this this from Paul McCartney; Elton John and Roy Wood when i was photographing them for the Leeds Student newspaper in the 1970s when they were being interviewed by the editor.

What you think is neither here nor there. They won't let you into the concert with a camera like that.

All you get by asking here is at best informed speculation at worst ill-informed guesswork.

Check your ticket - what do the T&C's say? If nothing then ask the concert organisers or venue. That way you get a definitive answer.

Almost certainly they will NOT let you take it into the concert.
You could probably use a small compact.
