Should i switch from a nikon d3100 to a d2h?

These days i'm only working on black and white film photography for school and i never find myself using my dslr. I used to have a d2h a few years back and i loved it, i had loads of fun with it. Realistically, would it be smart for me to sell off my d3100 for a d2h?

If you want to get the newest technology, you should be looking at the Nikon D3200 or even D5200

Not really as your will "take it in the shorts" (as the saying goes). You will lose a lot of money. You may want to ad the d2h to your arsenal of photographic equipment. I recently did a similar thing and I don't regret it in the least. I gave up a bridge camera and entered the DSLR arena with a Pentax Kx. As much as I enjoy using this camera, sometimes it is just too much of a hassle to bring all this (camera & lenses) to a photographic occasion where I know I don't need all that "fire power".So I got hold of a refurbished Canon Powershot SX20 IS. I feel now that I'm prepared for anything photographically which may depend on my mood to attack the situation.

Forget the D2H. Go for a D7000 body instead or even a D90. Either will outperform the D2H in just about every possible way. The only advantage the D2H has is the 8FPS rapid fire mode.

Do not replace any recent body by a d2h. Buy one and use it for small 5 mpix pictures for the web or websites. D2 makes an excellent picture quality, but is not meant to match the performance in low light we find today. A d2x is here also a good option, but still no low light performer, the 12 mpix chip made huge shots. Today, a d60 performs better. If you want a good body of the ancient class, get a d200.It still makes one of the best 10 mpix pictures you can ever find, despite the range up to 800 iso only, after that it is too noisy. Same body, huge performer, a bit slow but good up to 1600 iso, the Fuji S5 in the D200 body, And, you can't get better colors. I have an S5, it beats my NEX-7 in many fields.
