Photo critique - was advised to find more compelling subjects?

Here is a link to my Flickr:

I have had my camera a couple of months (Nikon D3100, standard starter 15-88mm lense)
After asking advice before, I was advised to find more compelling and interesting subjects. I have attempted this with the latest few photos I have uploaded, any feedback?
Critique on any of my photos/my technique/composition etc is welcome though. Just putting my work out there for opinion/advice… Many thanks!

These are certainly more compelling subjects and very dramatically taken. I would expect that all of them except the pile of green stuff would fair well in most photography competitions.

The subjects are kinda boring but its a good start

Pretty good, especially the first two. The landscapes are a bit predictable but still well shot.

You need to ask yourself what makes a compelling subject.

1. What is going on in the shot? Is it actually interesting? Not just to you, but to a wider audience.
2. Are you composing it well (can have a great effect on how compelling a subject is)
3. Have you considered the lighting? It can make or break a shot.

To be perfectly honest, you still have a way to go. Your latest uploads aren't doing much for me. Sorry

The fist 5 shots aren't well composed at all. The one I like best so far is this one: - shame about that horrible watermark though. Perhaps you should consider getting rid of the watermarks and just uploading low resolution versions to flickr. Watermarks really do put me off viewing photographs.

I think these photographs are great.

What you are missing is a story. Writers write to tell the story. Painters paint to tell the story. Photographers photograph to tell the story. What do you want to say?

I can see you understand compositions. I can see you understand DOF, color, exposure, etc, etc, etc. Technique is great! But there's no consistency in story line among all these photographs. There's no message behind any of these photographs - at least they don't come through.

If you are just starting out, this may be a lot. But that's what I see.
