Nikon D3200 - best lens?
So I recently purchased the Nikon D3200 with the standard kit lens 18-55mm. I was wondering, what would be the best step up lens next? I'm going to Disney world/ Universal next year so I will be taking many pictures. I will be going to every park - including animal kingdom, so which lens do you think would be best for this purpose?
To take pictures of your family and friends while in front of those amazing rides, to shoot those mascots up close and let those guides take a snap with you, to consume whole castles in one frame, to get the whole expanse of the view from way way up, the best would be the 18-55mm lens.
Want to steal some shots of pretty faces? How about details of the towers of Snow White's castle? Will you be wanting to shoot wild animals from a distance? You will need a telephoto lens like the 70-300mm.
It is most common to add a telephoto next. Don't get a cheapo version of 70-300mm. The 70-300mm AF-S VR is very good, but it is heavy and expensive. If you want something lighter and less expensive, get the 55-200mm AF-S VR.
Your next lens should be the 50-to-200mmAF-S VR! I like this size as it is smaller and easier to carry around for long periods of time!
You won't need a step up lens until you master what you already have! But you could add the 55-200mm VR lens to go with it. You can save money by buying it refurbished.
The 55-300mm AF-S VR will give you a great range at a very reasonable price. If you don't want to change lenses, then look at the 18-200mm or 18-300mm lenses for an all-in-one solution.
I usually carry several dedicated lenses in my bag, but for vacations, I find my 18-200mm does very well.
