Nikon 14-24 or Nikon 24-70 for landscape?

I'm a enthusiast photographer with expectations to go pro in the future. I'm tied on whether I should go for the 14-24 and it's notorious wide angle quality or should I go for the 24-70 which has a little bit of wide angle and portrait standard. I'm looking to use either one for landscape. This will be my first zoom in years since I'm a prime guy throughout my experience.

Added (1). Body is a Nikon D700

If you are using a full frame camera, the 24 mm is an okay landscape lens, but there are times when a wider lens is necessary.

Have you viewed a landscape using the 14 mm and 24 mm ends of the 14-24 mm lens?

Here are two shots taken with a 12-24 mm on a cropped sensor camera and as you can see from the sail shot, 12 mm was not even wide enough.

Landscape pictures show large expanses of land from side to side. The wider the angle of view of the lens, the better. If you still don't get it, get the fewest mm lens you can afford.

Between the two, that's the 14-24mm.

Landscapes don't have to be shot with a wide angle lens, they can be shot with anything. I know a guy who loves to shoot his landscapes with a 70-200.

Get the 24-70, it's a lovely wide lens on the D700 plus it will get much more use than the UWA will. UWA lenses are very specific, you could never use the 14-24 for portraits or as a walkabout. The 24-70 is the more logical choice if you can't already decide for yourself.

I'm a prime girl! I shoot most of my landscapes with the Canon 24mm F/1.4 or the 24mm TS-E and I find it perfectly fine. If I ever want a wider shot then I take multiple shots and stitch them together in a panorama.
