My nikon d7000 camera finds it difficult to focus?

My nikon d7000 camera finds it difficult to focus on anything at all when an object is close to the camera lens on, both, auto focus and manual mode, help anyone?

You may be too close to the object. Every lens has a minimum distance that it must be away from an object before it can focus on the object. Each lens is different, so look up the specifications of your particular lens to find out.

For close up photgraphy, you need to set the camera to "MACRO MODE" you can get very close to the object this way, but there's a minimum distance for this to work. Check the manual for the minimum distance.

As Normand stated, there's a minimum focus distance for each lens.

This distance is measured from the sensor plane to the subject. The sensor plane (focal plane) position is marked on the top right of the camera. See page 2 in your manual, item 12.

You're probably too close. If you want to focus close up you need a macro lens. If you are using the 18-55mm kit lens, the minimum shooting distance for this is around 28cm.

You need to backup & zoom in if you want to fill the frame.

If you want to get really close up you will need a macro lens - or micro lens as Nikon calls them.

If you can afford it I would recommend the Tokina 100mm f2.8 macro lens.

It may simply be too close to your camera, most lenses have a limit to how near they can focus. Try moving further away.
