My nikon D200 won't upload pictures to my computer?

Normally the camera uploads pictures to my computer, but i have been using my dad's Nikon D200 to take some photos, and it uploads them fine and connects but it will not let me view the photos. It comes up with the message "photo gallery can't open or view this photo or video. The file format is not supported or you do not have the latest updates."
has anybody else had this problem with this camera? Photos upload from the D200 to my dad's laptop?

That could be because he has the Nikon software installed on his lap top, do you? If not you should be able to install it on your computer.

Also, most of us regulars here use and recommend card readers for all uploads. They're not expensive and are available where ever cameras are sold. I've been using them for years and wouldn't be without a reader for every camera I own. That means I don't have to install the maker's software.

This can happen either due to a corrupt windows program or if you are clicking raw (nef) and the windows raw support is not installed.

Use a card reader.Re-install ViewNX or windows raw thumbnail viewer (whatever is installed on your comp).

If you are clicking jpg and face the same error even with a card reader, then your card might be corrupt. Recover whatever photos you can using a file recovery program in that case.
