Macro Extension Tube or Macro Reverse Adapter Ring for Nikon D3100?

I have a Nikon D3100 with a kit lens plus a 50mm 1.8D prime. What will be the better option out of the above 2 for me to take macro shots?

I my opinion the ring is the cheapest solution and the tube is the best. For results take
