Looking to buy a great camera/video recorder?

So I'm a beginner photographer and a filmer. My friends and I like to go and film movies; scary, comedic, ect. So I'm wondering if there's a camera 16 mp (least 14mp) out there along with HD video recording (1080) for video recording? I was deciding on the Nikon D5100 and then learned about the Nikon D700… Anyway! I'm looking for a camera with those two important qualites in the price range of $100- $600 Max.

You have some problems - one minor. Digital cameras don't "film" anything, they don't use film. The proper term is video… Get rid of that word. It's wrong and it makes you look like you don't have a clue.

Second you don't have enough money.

If you're going to do video with a "great" camera you need about $2, 500 just for the camera with no lenses or accessories. If you want to "good" video, that you can get for around $600 with on accessories.

But of course this says nothing about knowledge of how to shoot video, skill with the equipment and understanding what the equipment will do, especially the "film" comment.

Before you buy anything I'd suggest you do some serious reading about shooting video and what's important to get your video even looked at by an audience other than school friends.
