Lens to photograph buildings and skyscrapers?

I wanted to know which is the best nikon lent to photograph tall buildings and skyscrapers, because i'm going to dubai this spring. I have a nikon d3000 with a 18-55 vr lens.i'm a beginner and don't know much about lenses and dslr cameras.

Remember, photography is NOT a cheap hobby or profession… You get what you pay for.

The correct lens to use is a perspective control lens… Which corrects the usual converging parallels you get from shooting buildings from low level. Http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perspective_control_lens

As you can see it costs more than your camera does!

The good news is that you can 'get by' with the lens you have and correct the converging parallels in Photoshop!

One other thing is that good use of the lens distortion created by a wide angle lens can create a very interesting image… If you have any skyscrapers in your city you can experiment or alternatively just take images at pavement level ( camera on the ground) of normal buildings using the 18mm end of your zoom lens.
