Is this bad? (Shutter count)?

I recently bought a used Nikon D3100 and it has a shutter count of 16, 151.Is that a bad number for a shutter count? Will the shutter not work anytime soon?

No, it's all right.

It is a very low number
While Nikon stress tested the D3100 to 100, 000 shutter cycles, in normal use, you cameras shutter will never be abused like the test

You have used about 16% of the 100k shutter life expectancy.

This is not bad at all really. You should have a few years life left in it. So don't really worry get out and enjoy taking photographs and your workhorse of a camera should serve you well. You have made an excellent choice by choosing a Nikon D3100.

It's all right. Most dSLR's are rated to 100, 000 shutter actuations. 16, 000 is a bit low but indicates fair use. It didn't see much action from its previous owner. Good for you!
