Hi.thinking of buying prime and wide angle lens. Is there any lens that offers this as one instead of buying two different lenses? I have a nikon d3100. All answers are much appreciated

When I used to shoot weddings and parties, etc, my favorite lens was a 28-210mm zoom.

Any wide angle lens is a prime one
Many zooms cover wide angle focal length, but they are not prime lenses

Do you know what a prime lens is?

A prime lens is one that has a single focal length

My 20 mm, 50 mm, 105 mm and 300 mm lenses are all prime lenses

The widest Nikkor prime lens is the Nikkor 14 mm f/2.8 and costs $1, 900

Your Nikkor 18-55 mm lens is about as wide as you can get without spending nearly $900 for a Nikkor 10-24 mm wide angle zoom

As you may have guessed, you will eventually end up with at least a handful of lenses

Umm… You simply buy a wide angle lens. If it is not a zoom lens, then it is a prime lens. I have to agree with fhotoace. You seem to not know what a prime lens means.

A prime lense is simply a lense with a fixed focal length so it can be wide angle, standard or telephoto. What you seem to want is a wide angle to standard zoom, the equivalent of a 28-50mm intended for a 35mm film camera.
