Is the Nikon d300 a professional camera?
Is the Nikon d300 a professional camera? - 1
In the sense that is very robust and has a metal chassis and environmental seals, yes
It also has a very robust shutter, so unless you tend to machine gun your subjects, it should last for at least a decade or more.
I have one that I have been using for over 8 years shooting sports and some fashion.
Here is a link to some of the photos from that camera
No and yes. In the words of Ken Rockwell in April 2008, "The Nikon D300 is the world's best amateur camera." That statement would not be true today of course, with much more advanced cameras being sold in the "beginner" category.
The word professional refers to the person not the instrument. It does not matter what camera a photographer uses, dSLR or point-and-shoot. Skill also is irrelevant. As long as he gets paid to shoot pictures, he's a professional. What's important is that he can convince people to pay him to take their pictures.
It doesn't matter (again) if those huge brand names splash the word "professional" on their camera models. It's just a marketing ploy which doesn't mean they made use of that word correctly.
It was marketed by Nikon as a semi pro, or 'prosumer' camera. It has many features of their pro range but also some features of their consumer range.
Nikon d300 is a legend on semi pro level as action sport, birding and wildlife if you combine with the good lens like 70-200 vr2,24-70mm and the top notch 17-55mm.
Nope, entry level!
